Zusammenfassung:	In order to provide plants which exhibit resistance to infection by root knot nematodes identification is made of a gene which is expressed at the nematode feeding site of an infected plant. The promoter of the feeding site gene is isolated and associated with a sequence which encodes a molecule inimical to root knot nematode infection. A further plant is transformed with the so constructed chimaeric gene.
