Zusammenfassung: | The invention is related to doped fiber amplifiers used in telecommunications optical transmission systems. Offered cladding pumping technique in doped fiber amplifiers resolves several problems associated with the coupling of powerful light into the doped fiber core. The most significant advantage is the larger size pump light waveguide which can be combined with multi-mode light-emitting diodes. The invention is capable of providing >21 dB gain in the wavelength range 1534-1565 nm (C band) for up to 48 channel input signals with the input power of -20 dBm per channel and the gain difference among channels does not exceed 12 dB. The potential application of the invention is the amplification of signals in multi-channel communications systems in the core, metro or access networks operating in the C-band. The invention can be combined with EDFA amplifiers by creating a cascaded connection, thereby extending the amplification range and the output signal power. |
