MACHINE DE COPIAGE ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHIQUE

A low-profile electrophotographic copying machine employing an imaging system including an electrophotographic belt 62 transportable through plural work stations at which the belt is charged for consecutively charging, exposing and developing the produced latent image. The developed image optionally is transferred to a sheet 166 from a source and fixed. The belt 62 has closely proximate reaches 70, 72 horizontally oriented and parallel except at the developing station. The apparatus uses a folded optical projection system 56. The lower reach 72 of the electrophotographic belt 62 is positioned at about the same level as the platen 36, on which the document to be copied is placed. The developing station is disposed in the neck of the projection system. The arrangement enables conservation of space and a minimization of the vertical dimension of the machine.
