The present invention relates to a mechanism for moving / locking in position point switches, characterised in that the mechanism comprises: - an element fixed in position (1) with at least one stock rail, - a translationally movable element (2) fixedly mounted with at least one point switch and capable of being movable in translation by an actuating device (5), - a device (4) for locking the movable element with the fixed element when the movable element is in an end-of-travel position relative to the fixed element so that the point switch of the translationally movable element abuts against its stock rail, - an element (3) for unlocking the locking device, this unlocking element being movable and capable of being moved by an actuating device (5) when the movable element is fixedly locked with the fixed element.
