Zusammenfassung:	A fuel element support grid 10 for supporting a plurality of nuclear fuel elements 12 intermediate their ends has at least some of the pairs of intersecting and slottedly interlocked strips 14 and 16 including pairs 20a, 20b and 22a, 22b of intersecting integral fluid flow directing vanes along at least one adjacent edge of each of the strips of the pair. Welds 32 attach the pair of vanes to each other thereby providing welded attachment of the strips. The welds 32 may be at the intersection of the vanes remote from their areas of integral attachment to their respective strips 14,16 or they may be at adjacent 34 to their areas of integral attachment to their respective strips. The strips 14 and 16 may be bent to provide the strip function and the arch function within the same stream engaging profile as the strip alone presents.
