Zusammenfassung:A polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) is produced by the esterification of terephthalic acid and 1,4-butanediol in the presence of organic titanium cpd. and organic tin cpd. as a catalyst at 140-250 deg.C, the addition of phosphorus cpd. and metal oxide to the reactant in the step of the esterifying reaction ratio of 90-98%, and the polycondensation of the esterified reactant at 230-280 deg.C. The metal oxide is pref. antimony oxide, germanium oxide, manganese oxide or zinc oxide. The PBT has an excellent heat resistance and oxidation resistance.
