PURIFY - CRYSTALLIZATION OF L - PHENYL ALAINE METHYLESTER HYDROCHLORIC ACID SALT

A process for purifying and crystallizing L-phenylalanine methylester HCl salt (I) comprises: (a) esterifying L- phenylalanine in the preserse of methanol and catalyst; (b) evaporating the obtd. soln. continuously under the vacuum at 50-75 deg.C to remove the methanol; (c) adding toluene, slowly crystalizing solvent at the same condition to remove methanol completely; (d) crystalizing (I) at 10 deg.C or less from the obtd. L-phenylalanine methylester HCl salt-toluene soln.; (e) aging the crystal by leaving it alone for 2 hrs. to obtain the final product. The process is useful for producing the high purifyed (I).
