Zusammenfassung:Penem carboxyic acid esters of formula (I) are prepd. by esterifying a cpd. of formula (II) or its salt with a cpd. of formula RX in the presence of dimethylaminopyridine of dimethylformamide at 0-70 C. In the formulas, R is acetoxymethyl, pivaloxymethyl, methoxymethyl, methoxyethoxymethyl, phthalidyl, alpha-ethoxycarbonyloxyethyl, acetamidomethyl or benzamidomethyl group. The derivs. are useful as bactericidal agents.
