Zusammenfassung:In the prepn. of acrylamide (I) crystals by cooling an aq. soln. of (I), the improvement comprises the use of a double-walled or shell- and -tube heat exchanger, the soln. being passed through stainless steel tubes, the inner wals of which are electrolytically polished with coolant contacting the outside of the tubes. Pref. concn of soln. is 40-60 wt.%, soln. temp. at inlet is -2 to +10 C, flow velocity through the tube is 0.3-6 m/sec, inlet temp of coolant is -5 to +8 C and coolant flow rate is sufficient to achieve an overall heat transfer coefft. of 100-700 kcal/m2, hr, C in a state where the cooling surface is free of deposited scale.
