SELF-CRIMPING POLYAMIDE FIBERS
Self-crimping filaments of nylon 6 or 66 are made by extrusion into an air-quench cross-flow below 3 m/s to give a filament surface temp. of 40 to 130 C, wetting this with water, and drawing for 1.3 to 1 min. without external heating. Heat-relaxation develops a crimp of at least 6 on the filament cr...

Zusammenfassung: | Self-crimping filaments of nylon 6 or 66 are made by extrusion into an air-quench cross-flow below 3 m/s to give a filament surface temp. of 40 to 130 C, wetting this with water, and drawing for 1.3 to 1 min. without external heating. Heat-relaxation develops a crimp of at least 6 on the filament crimp index. The amt. of water applied pref. is 1-15 wt.% and drawing is by cold rolls or over a cold snubbing pin. Carpet yarns have improved tenacity. |
