LDPC ENCODING AND DECODING OF DATA USING GENERALIZED LDPC CODES

A method for correcting data stored in a memory device comprises the following steps of: applying an iterative decoder to data; determining the total number of rows of first data that the decoder attempted to correct; estimating first visible error rows from the total number of rows that continue to have errors after the attempt; estimating the remaining error rows among the total number of rows that no longer have errors after the attempt; determining second visible error rows of second data of the iterative decoder that continues to have errors by substituting for indices of the remaining error rows according to substitution; and correcting first data by using the first visible error rows. 메모리 장치에 저장된 데이터를 정정하는 방법은, 데이터에 반복 디코더를 적용하는 단계, 디코더가 정정을 시도한 제1 데이터의 행들의 총 개수를 결정하는 단계, 시도 후 계속해서 오류를 갖는 행들의 총 개수 중에서 제1 가시적 오류 행들을 추정하는 단계, 시도 후 더 이상 오류가 없는 행들의 총 개수 중 잔여 오류 행들을 추정하는 단계, 치환에 따라 잔여 오류 행들의 인덱스를 치환함으로써 계속해서 오류를 갖는 반복 디코더의 제2 데이터의 제2 가시적 오류 행들을 결정하는 단계, 제1 가시적 오류 행들을 사용하여 제1 데이터를 정정하는 단계를 포함한다.
