According to one aspect of the present invention, provided is a display device for performing local dimming, which perform local dimming by considering whether the blocks which make up the display panel include a texture. The display device includes: a timing controller which converts first source image data for a plurality of pixels input from the outside into first input image data, and generates a first dimming value in units of blocks composed of a predetermined number of pixels or corrects the first dimming value with a second dimming value; and a backlight control unit which performs local dimming of a plurality of light source blocks configured to correspond to the block according to the first dimming value or the second dimming value.
