Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to an apparatus for protecting a battery for a vehicle and a method thereof. According to the present invention, a plurality of battery modules are connected to a battery management system (BMS). In addition, by measuring a channel voltage of one battery management system (BMS), a location of a bus bar among a plurality of channels is automatically detected and a protection circuit is connected to the location of the bus bar. Therefore, a reverse voltage applied to the bus bar is blocked and the battery module and the BMS are protected. Additionally, a circuit area can be minimized by integrating the circuit. The apparatus for protecting the battery for the vehicle of the present invention comprises: the battery; the BMS; a voltage sensing unit; a battery protecting unit; and a control unit. 본 발명은 차량용 배터리 보호장치 및 그 방법에 관한 것으로, 배터리 관리 시스템(BMS)에 복수의 배터리모듈을 연결하고, 하나의 배터리 관리 시스템(BMS)의 채널전압을 측정하여 복수의 채널 중 버스바의 위치를 자동으로 검출하고 버스바의 위치에 보호회로를 연결함으로써, 버스바에 인가되는 역전압을 차단하여 배터리모듈 및 배터리 관리 시스템(BMS)을 보호하고, 회로를 집적화하여 회로의 면적을 최소화할 수 있다.
