The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device which comprises: first and second substrates which face each other, and are separated from each other; a thin film transistor which is disposed on an inner surface of the first substrate; a planarization layer which is disposed in an upper part of the thin film transistor; a guide spacer which is disposed in an upper part of the planarization layer, and has a hollow therein; a first alignment layer which is disposed in an upper part of the guide spacer; a first column spacer which is disposed on an inner surface of the second substrate, and is inserted into the hollow of the guide spacer; a second alignment layer which is disposed in a lower part of the first column spacer; and a liquid crystal layer which is disposed between the first and second alignment layers. 본 발명은, 서로 마주보며 이격되는 제1 및 제2기판과, 상기 제1기판 내면에 배치되는 박막트랜지스터와, 상기 박막트랜지스터 상부에 배치되는 평탄화층과, 상기 평탄화층 상부에 배치되고, 내부에 중공을 갖는 가이드스페이서와, 상기 가이드스페이서 상부에 배치되는 제1배향막과, 상기 제2기판 내면에 배치되고, 상기 가이드스페이서의 상기 중공에 삽입되는 제1컬럼스페이서와, 상기 제1컬럼스페이서 하부에 배치되는 제2배향막과, 상기 제1 및 제2배향막 사이에 배치되는 액정층을 포함하는 액정표시장치를 제공한다.
