METHOD AND APPARATUS OF HYBRID VIRTUALIZATION FOR CLOUD BASE STATION

A hybrid virtualization technology for a cloud base station is disclosed. A method of operating a cloud base station composed of a central node and a distribution node in a communication system comprises the steps of: virtualizing, by a hypervisor of the central node, network functions of a central unit of the central node in a hypervisor manner; virtualizing, by a container engine of the distribution node, network functions of a distribution unit of the distribution node in a container manner; exchanging real-time data by establishing a first link between the central unit and the distribution unit; and exchanging virtualization control data by establishing a second link between the hypervisor and the container engine.
