Nickel-based active material positive electrode including the same and lithium secondary battery employing the positive electrode

The present invention relates to a nickel-based active material in which the content of nickel among metal elements other than lithium is 80 mol% or more, a positive electrode including the same, and a lithium secondary battery including the positive electrode, a negative electrode and an electrolyte interposed therebetween, wherein the nickel-based active material includes: i) large secondary particles of 10 to 20 μm containing an aggregate of primary particles having a size of 1 μm or less, ii) large crystal particles containing primary particles having a size of 1 to 5 μm; and iii) small secondary particles of 1 to 7 μm containing an aggregate of primary particles having a size of 1 μm or less. 리튬을 제외한 금속원소 중 니켈의 함량이 80몰% 이상인 니켈계 활물질이며, 상기 니켈계 양극 활물질은 i)1㎛ 이하의 크기를 갖는 일차입자의 응집체를 함유하는 10 내지 20㎛의 대립이차입자, ii) 1 내지 5㎛의 크기를 갖는 일차입자를 함유하는 대결정입자; 및 iii) 1㎛ 이하의 크기를 갖는 일차입자의 응집체를 함유하는 1 내지 7㎛의 소립이차입자를 포함하는 니켈계 활물질, 이를 포함하는 양극, 상기 양극, 음극 및 이들 사이에 개재된 전해질을 포함한 리튬이차전지가 제공된다.
