According to various embodiments of the present invention, an electronic device comprises: a short-distance communication module for performing a short-distance communication with an external device; a sensor for detecting a motion of an electronic device; a memory; and a processor operatively coupled to the short-range communication module, the sensor, and the memory. The processor can be set to detect the motion of the electronic device using the sensor, to generate first motion information related to the motion of the electronic device, to receive second motion information related to a motion of the external device from the external device through the short-range communication module, and to perform a function determined based on the first and second motion information.
