Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to a composition for preventing and treating muscle diseases or improving muscle functions, and more particularly, to a composition for preventing or treating muscle diseases or a composition for reinforcing muscle functions and motion ability, comprising at least one compound selected from the group consisting of Herniarin and Tonghaosu as an active ingredient. In the present invention, it was confirmed that the compounds decrease the mRNA expression of atrogin-1 and MuRF1, which are major biomarkers involved in muscle proteolysis, and increase the mRNA expression of NRF-1 involved in muscle endurance activity and MyoD involved in muscle increase, thereby reinforcing muscles or reducing a muscle loss. Thus, the composition of the present invention can be used for preventing and treating muscle diseases or improving muscle functions. 본 발명은 근육 질환 예방 및 치료용 또는 근기능 개선용 조성물에 관한 것으로, 보다 상세하게는 헤르니아린(Herniarin) 및 통하오수(Tonghaosu)로 구성된 군에서 선택된 1종 이상의 화합물을 유효성분을 포함하는 근육질환 예방 또는 치료용 조성물 또는 근기능 및 운동능 강화용 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에서는 상기 화합물들이 근 단백질분해에 관여하는 주요 생체지표인 atrogin-1과 MuRF1의 mRNA 발현을 감소시키고, 근지구력 활성에 관여하는 NRF-1 및 근육 증가에 관여하는 MyoD의 mRNA 발현을 증가시킴으로써 근육을 강화시키거나 근손실을 감소시킬 수 있는 것을 확인하였으므로, 본 발명의 조성물은 근육 질환의 예방, 치료 또는 근기능 개선에 이용될 수 있다.
