Beam sweeping apparatus and method for mobile communication system

Disclosed are a beam sweeping apparatus and method for a mobile communication system. In accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, the beam sweeping apparatus for the mobile communication system comprises: a beam sweeping execution unit which transmits a plurality of common beams with unique SSB index for each of them in accordance with a first beam sweeping pattern for a certain cycle for a first time in the order of the allocated SSB indices, and executes the beam sweeping; an SSB index information collection unit which checks the PRACH preamble received from terminals receiving the common beam by the beam sweeping for the first time, and collects the SSB index information mapped on the PRACH preamble; and a beam sweeping pattern determination unit which transmits the first beam sweeping pattern based on the collected SSB index information by selecting only the corresponding common beams corresponding to the collected SSB index information among the plurality of common beams, or by changing the transmission order of the corresponding common beams, or by changing the transmission directions of the other common beams than the corresponding common beams.
