Zusammenfassung: | The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for purifying discharge gas containing a sulfur oxide generated from an internal combustion engine using a multi-stage adsorption process, which can purify contaminants from a flow of the discharge gas of the internal combustion engine operated by fuel containing sulfur, in particular the internal combustion engine for a ship operated by heavy oil. According to the present invention, the method allows the flow of the discharge gas to come in contact with a solid adsorbent of an adsorbing device in a first step of allowing the acid contaminants containing sulfur dioxide and sulfur trioxide to be coupled and allows the flow of the discharge gas to continuously pass through a second step of the finely purified adsorbing device, wherein the adsorbent of the second step is used as the adsorbent in the first step.
