직렬 다중 인버터 장치(1)는 변압기(Tr)를 통하여 교류 전력이 각각 입력되는 단상 출력 인버터 셀(2)(U1~U6, V1~V6, W1~W6)을 각 상마다 다단 직렬로 접속하여 U상, V상 및 W상의 각각을 구성하고, 이들 각 위상의 직렬 접속의 일단이 중성점(N)에서 서로 접속되어 있다. 첫 번째 인버터 셀(U1, V1, W1)로부터 중성점(N)에 이르는 배선(3)에, 각각 전류 검출기(HCT)가 배치되어 있다. 중성점(N)은 저항(R)을 통해 접지된다. 따라서, 배선(3)의 전위는 낮고, 전류 검출기(HCT)는 저내압 사양이다.
