According to an embodiment of the present invention, an air conditioner for outputting a notification signal for replacement of a filter comprises: a filter filtering dust particles in the air absorbed to the inside; an infrared lamp emitting infrared rays in the filter direction; an infrared sensor detecting an infrared ray which has passed through the filter among the infrared rays emitted from the infrared lamp; a control unit obtaining a replacement time of the filter in accordance with the amount of light of the detected infrared ray; and an output unit outputting the notification signal for replacement at the replacement time of the obtained filter.
