Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to a composition comprising coumestrol as an active ingredient and, more specifically, to a pharmaceutical composition, comprising coumestrol as an active ingredient, for preventing or treating epithelial ovarian cancer and a health function food composition, comprising coumestrol as an active ingredient, for preventing or alleviating epithelial ovarian cancer. According to the present invention, the composition comprising coumestrol as an active ingredient is extracted from a plant, can minimize toxicity in vivo and side effects compared to a chemical compound, inhibits proliferation and migratory properties in an epithelial ovary cancer cell, increases the number of dead cells in an epithelial ovary cancer cell strain in a dose-dependent manner, and can obtain a synergy effect of cell death when the composition is treated together with a target inhibitor, which inhibits a PI3K/AKT, ERK1/2 or P38 signal transmission path, or an anticancer chemical treatment agent such as cisplatin and paclitaxel. The composition comprising coumestrol as an active ingredient can be widely used for various industrial fields such as bio-science, medicine and pharmaceuticals. 본 발명은 쿠메스트롤을 유효성분으로 포함하는 조성물에 관한 것으로, 보다 상세하게는 쿠메스트롤을 유효성분으로 포함하는 상피성 난소암 예방 또는 치료용 약학적 조성물 및 쿠메스트롤을 유효성분으로 포함하는 상피성 난소암 예방 또는 개선용 건강기능식품 조성물에 관한 것으로, 본 발명에 따른 쿠메스트롤을 유효성분으로 포함하는 조성물은 식물에서 추출된 것으로서 화학적 합성물에 비해 체내 독성 내지 부작용을 최소화할 수 있으며, 상피성 난소암 세포 내 증식 및 이주성을 억제하고 용량 의존적으로 상피성 난소암 세포주 내 사멸 세포의 수를 증가시킬 뿐만 아니라, PI3K/AKT, ERK1/2 또는 P38 신호전달경로를 억제하는 타겟 억제제 또는 시스플라틴 및 파클리탁셀과 같은 항암화학치료제와 병용 처리하는 경우 세포 사멸의 시너지 효과를 얻을 수 있는바, 생명과학, 의약학 등 다양한 산업 분야에 널리 활용될 수 있다.
