RECHARGEABLE BATTERY

The present invention provides a secondary battery having enhanced battery capacity and short circuit prevention performance. The secondary battery according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: an electrode assembly capable of charging and discharging a current; a lead tab electrically connected to the electrode assembly; and a pouch case comprising a receiving part having the electrode assembly embedded therein and at least a part of a rim being curved and a connecting part extending from a side of the rim of the receiving part and sealing the receiving part. The connecting part may comprise an upper connecting part in which the lead tab is drawn out and a side connecting part bent in a thickness direction of the receiving part and forming a support space between the receiving part and the side connecting part. 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 이차전지는 전류를 충전 및 방전할 수 있는 전극조립체, 상기 전극조립체와 전기적으로 연결되는 리드탭 및 상기 전극조립체가 내장되며 테두리측의 적어도 일부가 만곡지게 형성되는 수용부 및 상기 수용부의 테두리측에서 연장 형성되며, 상기 수용부를 밀폐하는 접합부를 가지는 파우치 케이스를 포함하고, 상기 접합부는, 상기 리드탭이 인출되는 상부접합부와 상기 수용부의 두께방향으로 절곡되며, 상기 수용부와의 사이에 지지공간을 형성하는 측면접합부를 포함할 수 있다.
