Zusammenfassung:	An apparatus and a method for recognizing a battery are disclosed. The apparatus for recognizing a battery includes a detection part for detecting a characteristic curve by using information about the battery provided from a battery management system (BMS) connected to a battery, an extraction part for extracting a linear section from the characteristic curve, a matching part for matching the linear section extracted by the extraction part with linear section data for each battery type previously stored, and a determination part for determining a battery type according to the matching result. So, it is possible to recognize the battery type by using the linearity of a charging or discharging characteristic curve. 배터리 인식 장치와 그 방법이 개시된다. 상기 배터리 인식 장치는 배터리와 연결된 배터리 관리 시스템(BMS, Battery Management System) 으로부터 제공받은 상기 배터리의 정보를 이용하여 특성곡선을 검출하는 검출부, 상기 특성곡선에서 선형구간을 추출하는 추출부, 상기 추출부에서 추출한 선형구간과 미리 저장된 배터리 종류별 선형구간 데이터를 매칭하는 매칭부 및 상기 매칭 결과에 따라 상기 배터리의 종류를 판단하는 판단부를 포함한다.
