A mobile terminal comprises: a main body; a control unit mounted in the main body wherein the control unit comprises a control unit memory; and a component module coupled to the main body. The control unit compares lock/unlock state information of the component module and identification information of the component module with identification information registered in the control unit memory to check whether the component module can be used wherein the lock/unlock state information of the component module and the identification information of the component module are obtained from the component module. When the component module can be used, the mobile terminal controls a function of the component module or changes a lock state of the component module.
