Zusammenfassung: | Disclosed are a system and a method for managing a battery which can determine a type of batteries at a random point in which the battery is not fully charged by determining the type of batteries by using an error rate calculated by comparing voltage for each cell with reference voltage for each battery type. The battery managing system is installed in a control box of a distribution intelligent apparatus, and manages a battery operating with an emergency power source. The battery managing system comprises: a voltage applying unit for charging a battery by applying common charging voltage to the battery; a measuring unit for measuring voltage for each cell of the battery; and a control unit for determining a type of the battery by calculating an error rate between the voltage for each cell and the reference voltage for each battery type.
