Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for driving a constant current from an input of commercial alternating current power and, more specifically, to a constant current apparatus and method for effectively driving an LED. The apparatus for driving an LED according to the present invention comprises: first to third LED groups connected to an alternating current power source; a rectifier part; an input voltage sensing part; a charge and discharge part; first to third driving current control parts; and first and second flicker improving parts, wherein a voltage charged in the charge and discharge part is provided to at least one of the first to third LED groups when the sensed input voltage reaches a predefined critical value or less. 본 발명에 따른 엘이디를 구동하기 위한 장치는 교류 전원에 연결되는 제 1 내지 제 3 엘이디 그룹, 정류부, 입력전압 센싱부, 충방전부, 제1 내지 제 3 구동 전류 제어부, 및 제 1 및 제 2 플리커 개선부를 포함하되, 센싱된 입력 전압이 기 설정된 임계치 이하가 되면 상기 충방전부에 충전된 전압을 상기 제1 엘이디 그룹, 상기 제2 엘이디 그룹 및 상기 제3 엘이디 그룹 중 적어도 하나에 제공하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
