COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF GOUT COMPRISING SUBSTANCE EXTRACTED FROM PLEUROTUS OSTREATUS

The present invention relates to a composition comprising a Pleurotus Ostreatus extract extracted by a hot water extraction as an active ingredient for preventing and treating gout. Particularly, the present invention provides a composition for preventing and treating gout wherein oligopeptide, comprising phenylalanine-cysteine-histidine extracted from Pleurotus Ostreatus, inhibits a xanthine oxidase, which is a key enzyme for forming a uric acid causing gout, and thereby, reduces blood uric acid concentration and therefore, shows an anti-gout effect without side effects. In addition, the present invention relates to a method of extracting Pleurotus Ostreatus for preventing and treating gout, the method comprising the steps of: drying Pleurotus Ostreatus; pulverizing the dried Pleurotus Ostreatus; adding water, which is three times or five times the pulverized Pleurotus Ostreatus, to the pulverized Pleurotus Ostreatus; and extracting the same at a temperature of 25 to 45°C for 24 to 72 hours.
