A method for playing music based on a chord in an electronic device according to an embodiment of the present disclosed includes the steps of: identifying a background music related to a music and loading sound source data synchronized with the background music from a memory; playing the background music; identifying a chord corresponding to the background music played in the sound source data; setting a note relevant to the chord to a corresponding note in a touch object displayed in a touch screen; and resetting a note relevant to a changed chord, when the chord is changed, to a corresponding note of the touch object. Various embodiments are also possible.
