The present disclosure provides a method and apparatus capable of maximizing user convenience and providing user experience (UX) by performing an operation suitable for data and a relevant application when data communications are performed between electronic devices. To achieve this, an electronic device according to the present disclosure includes a connection unit connected to an external device; an action manager configured to receive data and property information associated therewith from the external device connected to the connection unit, and to run an application related to the property information to process the data; and at least one processor configured to run the action manager.
