DISPLAY DEVICE AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF

The present invention provides a display device and a method of controlling the same capable of verifying whether or not a control signal is transferred to a satellite signal receiving device, displaying a channel to be switched or re-transferring the control signal, and notifying a connection problem between the display device and the satellite signal receiving device to a user. The display device of the present invention comprises: a communication unit transmitting and receiving a signal with the satellite signal receiving device; an image processing unit processing an image; a display unit displaying the processed image; a storage unit storing inherent information of a channel corresponding to the processed image; and a controller transmitting a control signal for switching the channel to the satellite signal receiving device, extracting channel information included in a signal received from the satellite signal receiving device after transmitting the control signal, comparing the extracted channel information and the inherent information of the channel, and controlling the channel so as to be switched on the basis of the compared result. Accordingly, a channel-switched result can be easily seen, and the connection problem can be easily grasped and rapidly processed by a user by verifying whether or not a control signal is transferred to the satellite signal receiving device and displaying a channel to be switched, or re-transferring the control signal and notifying the connection problem between the display device and the satellite signal receiving device to the user.
