DISPLAY DEVICE AND PROTECTING METHOD OF THE SAME

The present invention relates to a display device and a method for driving the same. In particular, the display device comprises: a display unit which includes a plurality of pixels and displays an image according to transferred image data signals corresponding to each of the pixels; and a control unit which receives an external input image signal, converts luminance data, and transfers luminance conversion data signals corresponding to the respective pixels. The control unit comprises: an input image data reception unit which receives the external input image signal; a scale factor calculation unit which determines at least one control factor for luminance conversion with respect to the input image signals corresponding to the plurality of pixels, which are transferred from the input image data reception unit; and a luminance data conversion unit which converts the luminance data of the pixels by using at least one determined control factor and outputs the luminance conversion data signals.
