APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CHANNEL ESTIMATION IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

Disclosed are a channel estimation apparatus and method for a wireless communication system. A method according to the present invention includes a step of calculating a channel response value with regard to a midamble sequence included in a downlink slot, a step of detecting a first channel response value with regard to a window allocated to a user in the midamble sequence and a second channel response value with regard to a window allocated to at least one other user, a step of determining whether or not the base station of a present cell operates beam forming based on the first and second channel response values, and a step of combining the first and second channel response values and using them for signal detection when the base station does not operate the beam forming.
