NAVIGATION APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF

The present invention provides a navigation system, which displays a wider area in a traveling direction in a set route in advance after the navigation system takes a turning when approaching a turning point, and a control method thereof. The navigation system comprises: an image processing unit which processes an image including a map for navigation and a route to the destination; a display unit which displays an image processed by the image processing unit; and a control unit which controls the image processing unit in order to display an area in the traveling direction on a route based on the turning point when the navigation system approaches the turning point of the route. Accordingly, when the navigation system approaches the turning point, the navigation system takes a turning and then displays a wider area in the traveling direction in the set route in advance, thereby allowing a user to see the area in the traveling direction in the set route at the turning point in advance. Therefore, the user can recognize the surroundings in advance and promptly cope with the changes in the route and movement.
