Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to a charging system and a method for preventing overcharging of a charger for an electric vehicle. The present invention provides a charging system for preventing overcharging of a charger for an electric vehicle, which includes: a reference current output unit to output a reference current according to an output voltage received from a charger; a maximum allowable current output unit to output a maximum allowable current applied to a battery; a comparison unit to output a charging current by receiving the reference current and the maximum allowable current and comparing the reference current with the maximum allowable current; and a current control unit to calculate and output a duty value to maintain constant current by receiving the charging current and an output current of the charger.
