Zusammenfassung:The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for driving a liquid crystal display device, which stabilize a gate driving circuit and reduce a variable width of an image display voltage according to a kick back voltage (ΔV_p) by varying a gate driving voltage and a common voltage level supplied to a liquid crystal panel according to an ambient temperature, thereby preventing a degradation in image quality. The apparatus for driving a liquid crystal display device comprises: a liquid crystal panel including a plurality of pixel regions to display an image; at least one gate driver disposed in the liquid crystal panel to drive gate lines; a data driver which drives data lines of the liquid crystal panel, detects an ambient temperature by setting detectable temperatures to each time point of temperature detection, and outputs a gate driving voltage variation signal and a common voltage variation signal according to the set and detected temperature; a timing controller which arranges image data inputted from the outside, supplies the arranged image data to the data driver, and controls the at least one gate driver and the data driver, respectively; and a power supply unit which varies a level of the gate driving voltage and a level of the common voltage according to the gate driving voltage variation signal and the common voltage variation signal and supplies the gate driving voltage and the common voltage, whose levels are varied, to the at least one gate driver and the liquid crystal panel, respectively.
