SCREEN CONTROL METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CHANGING CATEGORY

A screen control method which changes a category and a set-top box performing the same are provided. The screen control method which enables the set-top box to control the screen of a display device includes the following steps of: displaying services which are usable in the display device according to categories and activating a category bar which has an icon subset display window positioned in the lower end and having multiple icons which belong to a corresponding category; receiving a user input signal, which is predefined by a remote control, by the set-top box; and changing a category into an adjacent category which is arranged in the input direction of the user input signal and a category bar which has the icon subset display window in which icons which belong to the adjacent category are arranged.
