Zusammenfassung:Provided are an application method and application device that can align a flexible substrate, wherein multiple recesses have been formed, with few man-hours and a simple configuration, and can apply ink to the respective recesses using the inkjet method. Specifically, a substrate (F), which is subject to tension in the longitudinal direction (X), is held at a prescribed height (HR) and is aligned in the transverse direction (Y), is supplied onto an adhesion plate (8) in image display region (S) units and immobilized. Distortions in the shape of the adhesion-immobilized image display region(s) (S) are detected and, based on the detected distortions in the shape of the image display region(s) (S), mapping data Dm that determines the nozzles for delivering ink to the respective multiple recesses (P) disposed in said image display region(s) (S) is created. As the multiple nozzles (13) are moved in the transverse direction (Y) from the home position (HP) near the side of the substrate (F), ink is delivered to the respective multiple recesses (P) in the image display region(s) (S) from the nozzles selected from among the multiple nozzles (13) on the basis of the mapping data (Dm).
