Zusammenfassung: | The present invention relates to a method for sand casting an aluminum piston and a method for manufacturing an aluminum piston. The above method comprises a step for casting a piston having a complex geometric form including an undercut or a reentrant feature. In the casting, a discardable aggregate mold which can be removed from an as-cast component is used. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the complex geometric form may have an undercut combustion bowl formed inside a piston dome, and an inside cooling path. The undercut bowl and the inside path can be manufactured by using the discardable aggregate mold. |
