Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to a method for diagnosing one or more functional units (202) connected to a control device (201) inside a motor vehicle. In the above method, one or more measuring values (210), which are determined by the functional units (202), are compared to corresponding model values (211) in order to obtain comparison values (212) in the above method. In the above case, the model values (211) are calculated based on data based models (205) inside the control device and are output with effective values (213) of the models (205), and diagnosis (206) can be activated or inactivated by comparing preset threshold values (214) to the effective values (213), and the comparison value (212) is estimated only when the diagnosis (206) is activated. Also, the present invention relates to a system corresponding to the same.
