Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: A remote controller and a user input method using the remote controller are provided to improve portability while obtaining weight or side reduction of the remote controller by enabling program search or internet search without a key pad. CONSTITUTION: A touch pad (120) is inputted with a touch operation for operating a pointer shown in a display screen or inputting characters. Multiple mode selection buttons (170) are arranged adjacent to the touch pad. The mode selection buttons are used to select multiple functions or a functional mode together with the touch pad. Each mode selection button is a metal dome key. The mode selection buttons are arranged along the circumference of the touch pad.
