PURPOSE: A portable terminal and a control method thereof are provided to display the detected face area into a three-dimensional image by detecting the face area from a two-dimensional image. A control unit(180) controls a display unit to output a part of the two-dimensional image by converting a part of the two-dimensional image into a three-dimensional image. The control unit recognizes a face recognition area from the two-dimensional image. The control unit controls the display unit to convert the recognized face area into the three-dimensional image.
