Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: A motor drive controller and a control method are provided to control driving of a motor by outputting detected phase information as a digital signal, and realize fine detection of phase. CONSTITUTION: A motor drive controller to drive and control a motor has a rotor and multi-phase coils inside the rotor. The motor drive controller comprises a first phase detection circuit(10), a phase divider(20), a signal selector, and a second phase detection circuit (30). The first phase detection circuit detects a phase by comparing sensor signals with multiple predetermined threshold levels. The first phase detection circuit output a first phase information signal representing a first detected phase. The phase divider divides the phases detected by the first phase detection circuit into multiple predetermined phase intervals. The signal selector selects one of the respective multiple sensor signals detected by the first phase detection circuit into multiple predetermined phase intervals. The second phase detection circuit detects whether the signal selected by the signal selector reaches a predetermined threshold level corresponding to a predetermined phase of the rotor, and output a second phase information signal representing a second detected phase different from the first detected phase.
