APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING CPU IN A PORTABLE TERMINAL

PURPOSE: A device for controlling a CPU in a portable terminal and a method thereof are provided to optimize the power consumption of the CPU by operating a core included in the CPU within a limit clock frequency. CONSTITUTION: A control unit(101) operates a first core among cores in a CPU within a limit clock frequency, confirms the number of delay processing, and compares the number of the delay processing with a reference value. If the number of the delay processing exceeds the reference value, the control unit operates the first core and a second core among the cores at the maximum clock frequency. If the number of the delay processing is lower than the reference value, the control unit operates the first core within the limit clock frequency. The limit clock frequency is determined by considering a correlation between the first core and a load processed by the first core for a predetermined time period.
