ZINC OXIDE/ACID CONTAINING COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR TREATING AND/OR PREVENTING ENZYMATIC IRRITATION

PURPOSE: A composition containing zinc oxide and acids is provided to prevent and treat diaper rash and atopic dermatitis. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing and/or treating enzymatic dermatitis contains 1-14% of zinc oxide, 0.001-10% of acids, and a carrier. The acids include an acetic acid, an ascorbic acid, a citric acid, a carbonic acid, a glucuronic acid, a glyconic acid, a lactic acid, or and a malic acid. The carrier includes a lotion, a cream, gel, a stick, a spray, an ointment, a cleansing liquid wash, a solid bar, a paste, a powder, a mousse, a patch, a wound healing dressing, hydrogel, a film, or a diaper. The composition additionally contains ketoconazole, miconazole, elubiol, allantoin, calamine, dimethicone, kaolin, Vaseline, white Vaseline, cod liver oil, lanolin, or an agent of topical starch.
