APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CALCULATING RADIUS OF CURVATURE OF RAIL ROAD

PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for calculating a curvature radius of a rail road are provided to safely run a train by determining limit speed of the train among curvature radiuses of each section which is included between a current position of the train and a stop position of the train based on a maximum curvature radius. CONSTITUTION: A current position calculation part(110) calculates a current position of a train using information transmitted from a cab signal device loaded on the train. A stop positioning part(120) determines a stop position of the train in consideration of the position of a preceding train. A curvature radius output part(130) determines the biggest curvature radius as the curvature radius between the stop position and the current position. The curvature radius output part includes a front mean curvature radius output part and a rear mean curvature radius output part. A limit speed determination part determines limit speed of the train according to the calculated curvature radius.
