Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: An illuminating optical system using diffraction grating is provided to have light distribution with an improved uniformity ratio in a specific direction using the diffraction grating having different grid intervals in a vertical direction and a horizontal direction to a light source. CONSTITUTION: An optical system comprises a light source(1) and a diffraction grating(2) having different grid intervals in a vertical direction and a horizontal direction. The diffraction grating is located on the front surface of the light source. The diffraction grating causes diffraction of light emitted from the light source. The light source can be an LED, an LD(laser diode), or a PD(photo diode). The LED is regularly arranged on a printed circuit board at a predetermined interval to improve uniformity of emitted light. The diffraction grating is formed by drawing a line having a constant interval on a transparent material.
