METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR OFFSET ESTIMATION IN MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A method for offset estimation in a mobile communication system and an apparatus thereof are provided to obtain excellent link performance by accurately estimating an offset. CONSTITUTION: A FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) device(100) outputs a frequency symbol by changing a received signal into a frequency signal. A pilot extractor(102) selects a pilot symbol from the frequency symbol. An estimation order determination device(104) determines which one will be firstly estimated, a frequency offset or a timing offset. A first offset estimator(106) estimates the offset which is selected to be firstly estimated from the timing offset and the frequency offset by the estimation order determination device using an extracted pair of pilot symbol. An offset compensator(108) performs phase compensation by performing offset compensation for the pilot symbol using the estimated offset. A second offset estimator(110) estimates the rest of offsets which have not been estimated among the timing offset and the frequency offset using the offset-compensated pilot symbol.
