Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: An apparatus for providing focus information and an apparatus for adjusting focus are provided to automatically move the location of a lens based on totaled edge value. CONSTITUTION: An image acquisition unit(110) obtains the image of an subject(50) including one or more lines. The lines become narrow toward a fixed reference line. A computing unit(120) computes edge value by pixel from the obtained image using an edge extraction filter. The computing unit adds up the calculated edge values in the direction of the reference line. The control unit(150) outputs the totaled edge values through the output unit(140).
